FIRST VISIT

Upon entering our office for the first time, we will have some brief paperwork for you to fill out. The paperwork provides us with general information about yourself, your background and your physical condition. If you would like to get a jump on the paperwork, so that you can go right to the next step, feel free to click the link below and fill it out now!

Examination and Consultation

Once the initial registration paperwork has been completed, you will have a consultation with the doctor to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, as well as potential treatment options. In order to determine what your actual problem is, the doctor will ask you various questions related to your condition. Also, a number of specialized exams will be reviewed to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent.

You will remain fully clothed for the duration of your visit, so we recommend you wear non-restrictive clothing to make it easier to rest comfortably while lying down on the table. A portion of your exam may be performed while you are face down, while other exams may be delivered while you are either on your side, sitting upright or lying on your back.

Adjustment

Now the chiropractor will adjust your spine and joints.  This means the chiropractor will adjust the vertebrae that have moved out of their normal movement patters or are not functioning properly.  The adjustment usually involves a short lever arm thrust to the vertebrae, immediately accompanied by an audible release of gas (the "pop" sound) that is from the release of the joint pressure.  This results in immediate relief most of the time, though some minor discomfort may occur if the muscles around the joint were already in spasm.

The days after

It is common for some soreness in the joint or the surrounding muscles for a day or two - after all, the joint was out of proper and alignment and has been moved into the correct position.  An ice pack can reduce the symptoms quickly. Over time, your joint may return to the abnormal position and need another adjustment, especially if you are just beginning chiropractic care.  It is important to discuss with your chiropractor a treatment plan to keep your body healthy!

After having my baby, I had sciatica and could hardly walk.  Dr Julie has really worked to ease the pain and with my weekly visits, I can now walk and workout with ease.
